artist bio
Bronte Whittle is an emerging artist working on Gadigal land in Sydney. She was selected as a semi-finalist in the Macquarie Art Prize 2025 and as a finalist in the Waverley 9x5 Landscape Prize 2025 and the Harden Art Prize 2024.
Her practice centres on plein air painting, working directly from life and immersing herself in environments ranging from Hill End and desert landscapes to coastal and suburban Sydney. Using gouache on site and oil in the studio, she captures the immediate experience of place, light, and atmosphere through direct observation in both still life and landscape.
Bronte completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at the National Art School in 2023 and was awarded the 2024 AACI placement at Ernabella Arts, APY Lands. She also recently undertook a four-week residency at Studio Kura in Itoshima, Japan.
